Pine siskins have invaded Athens GA due to a scarcity of their pine seeds food source Canada. Dozens and dozens, perhaps hundreds at a time, descended on local birdfeeders, stripping them bare like locusts. From our kitchen bay window it often looks like it is snowing birds, a blizzard, but to and from all directions, like a shaken snow globe. Waves of them abruptly lift into the air from the ground and swarm off, yet still leaving scores on the ground and clinging to the feeders. Amazing. I should mention to them that south Georgia is mostly pine trees.
